Food Safety Handlers

A nationally accredited course, this could be opted by those who want to have hands-on skills and knowledge in safe food handling, storage of food, safe preparation of food and safety disposal of food. Usually, this type of course is of 7 to 8 hours’ duration and can is best suited for those who want to make their resume impressive in hospitality sector.

Food Safety Supervisor

In this course, candidates learn to monitor the juniors handling the food items, record food hazards and ensure that the safety procedures are followed properly, thereby minimizing the risk of any type of food contamination.

TAFE certificates & diplomas

These courses are nationally recognised and enhances practical skills by providing vocational education to the candidates. Following are the most commonly looked after Hospitality TAFE courses:

Certificate III in Commercial Cookery

This is a three year part time course that gives you a qualification in Commercial Cookery. Here candidates are given practical skills development in food preparation, menu planning, food safety, modern restaurant training, knife skills, etc. After you are through with this course you can get jobs in any centre the work of a cook or a trainee chef.


Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery

This course is best suited for those who cannot spare more time and want to improve their cookery skills. The course is of one year duration and is part time. Anyone who is working as a kitchen operator anywhere can opt for this. This course will be an addition to their resume. In this course, students will be introduced to sustainable work practices, managing people and other operations work, maintaining the hygiene of the food and ensure food safety. 

Certificate II in Hospitality

After completing the senior secondary studies, candidates may opt for this hospitality course. It is a part time course of two years duration and equips you with basic hospitality knowledge and skills. Here you will learn the preparation and serving of beverage and food with other safe work practices. 

Certificate III in Hospitality

This course offers candidates practical hospitality skills so that they can get work in any bars, restaurants, cafes, hotels, etc. In this course you will learn service of bar and alcohol operation with other food and beverage matching. This is a part time trainee course of one year duration and after completing you may go for diploma in hospitality.

Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management

If you want to reach on senior positions, then this course is the best option for you. This diploma course develops advanced skills in you for hospitality operations and human resource management. Whether it is  financial management or marketing strategies, you will learn all in just in 1.5 years, but remember this is a full time course. Nonetheless, it will make you competent to do business planning and get properly equipped in hospitality training.

Diploma of Hospitality Management

This course gives you hands-on knowledge and training in the hospitality sector. You will be able manage staff and learn strategic business operations with other business marketing skills. This is also a full time course, but of one year duration. Any candidate who wants to flourish in the hospitality industry can opt for this course.

Bachelor Courses

There is one Bachelor course which can be done in different subjects and that is:

Bachelor of Business (Hospitality and Tourism Management)

This course gives you the knowledge and skill required to succeed in business work. The candidates who have completed the Diploma of Business or want to work in a different field of Hospitality can opt for this course. It is a three year full time course that can be pursued part time, but then it will take more time to complete. You may choose in this different majors such as marketing, human resource, international hospitality, event management, financial risk management, and many more other relevant fields. 

Postgraduate Courses

There are two courses under this and they are:

Master of Business (Tourism and Destination Management)

This course is a specialist qualification that enhances your managerial skills in tourism and events industries. In this course you learn policy development and planning roles to explore more about tourism and destination management. The candidates who have Graduate certificate in hospitality tourism can go for this course. This is a full time course of two years duration that helps you learn challenges faced by destinations internationally.

Master of Tourism and Destination Management

This course helps you understand the complexity of the event management industry and tourism sector. You will grow here as a specialist with cross-disciplinary knowledge in tourism as well as other management studies. This is a 1.5-year full time course that can be opted part time, but then it will take more time.
