Course Overview

Early childhood education settings who work within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard. Under the National Quality Framework, 50% of educators required to meet the relevant ratios in a centre based service working with children preschool age and under, must have or be actively working towards an approved Diploma level education and care qualification. All other educators required to meet the relevant ratios at the service must have or be actively working towards an approved Certificate III level education and care qualification.

The course will cover subjects in:

  • Providing care for babies, toddlers and children
  • Health and safety in the workplace and of children
  • First Aid
  • Learn about the approved learning framework to guide practice
  • Support children in their behaviour, learning development and connecting with their world
Entry Requirements

International Students

  • Minimum 18 years of age.

Academic Requirements:

  • Successful completion of Year 10, (High School Certificate (HSC) OR equivalent) OR a Certificate II OR equivalent OR be a mature age.

English Requirements:

It is essential that international students must exhibit a strong command of the English language. Undertaken one of the following English Language Tests and met the minimum score.

  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum score of 5.0.
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) Internet-Based Test must have scored 35 or higher.
  • Pearson Test of English (PTE) must have scored 36 or higher.
  • Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) ESOL test must have score 154 or higher.
  • Evidence that English is the medium of instruction at the student’s school and has been for the last two (2) years. The student has a satisfactory grade in the language.

Course Duration
  • 52 Weeks Two (2) Semesters = 26 weeks each Consisting of:
  • Four (4) Terms of Study = 10 weeks each, plus
  • A three (3) week break at the end of each Term = 12 weeks.

Further Studies

Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care will lay a foundation for successful students to progress into CHC50121 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care or a range of other Diploma qualifications.
